My (Incontinent) Teenage Toddler

Today Emily, Caleb, and I went to the store. Emily ran off and after five minutes of searching (during which time I grew increasingly panicked) I found her looking like this except for happier.
I shouldn't have worried. She was just getting some of her own shopping done.

In other news, this girl NEEDS to be potty-trained. I am going through so many diapers (and so much money) changing her several times a day because she cannot tolerate being wet any more. She has gone in the potty a couple of times, but doesn't really seem to get it. Since I have no idea how to even start this process, I've checked a book out and have been grilling neighbors on the topic. She's still really young, so we'll see what happens.

i know it is no fun having 2 in diapers (i've done it a few times so i should know!). potty training is not my favorite thing, but it is so worth it! and summer is a good time. i like to have my kids run around with just a shirt and underwear while training. and yes, you'll probably need a lot of underwear. i like the thick 100% cotton kind (not gerber, it uses polyester fill and doesn't absorb anything!) you can find in department stores or online. good luck!

she must have gotten that from amanda (the fashion sense, not the incontinence). all i can think of is joseph's lavender suit and green shorts.

Lots of options. I just kept our little potty chair with us (living room, kitchen, wherever) and asked Gwen if she wanted to use it about every 20 minutes. Some people use a timer and then lots of rewards whenever something happens in the potty.
I let Gwen choose her own big girl underwear (and of course she chose the princess ones that cost $3 more than the generic flowered ones) and reminded her that she didn't want to get the princesses dirty. Worked like a charm.
She definitely seems to be giving signs of readiness. It's a little crazy, but the anticipation of potty training is harder than actually doing it, in my opinion. I'm sure you both will do beautifully.

I need to figure out that mystical potty training game as well! Let me know if you get any breakthroughs. I hear girls are easier, if that helps...it doesn't help me, unfortunately ;)
