Dishes!

Today I went running without a baby stroller for the first time in probably over a year. It was wonderful to have my arms back moving naturally instead of hanging onto the stroller. I remembered how much I enjoy running and what a good stress reliever it is. I also decided it was a good thing I went because I spent all day munching on these:
They are peanut butter bars that I found the recipe for on the Land O Lakes margarine box. I like them because they are pretty yummy, use ingredients that we always have on hand, and they are super quick and easy to make.

DOUBLE CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BARS

1 C. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 C. margarine, softened
1/2 C. chunky peanut butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1-3/4 C. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 C. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (I use regular size and just throw them in the Kitchen Aid to crush them up. Plus, then you don't have to stir the dough by hand at all.)
2 Tbsp. sugar
35 milk chocolate candy kisses (I like the Hershey's Kissables because they are smaller)

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees farenheit. Line 13x9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving a 1-inch overhang; set aside. (I just sprayed the pan and put the batter straight in)
  • Combine brown sugar, margarine, and peanut butter in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Beat until well mixed. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Pat dough into prepared pan. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately press evenly spaced chocolate candies into warm bars. Cool completely. Remove bars from pan using edges of foil; cut into bars, cutting between candies.
Delicious! (Emily always thinks I am saying dishes when I say that and points to the sink to show me where they are)
