Statesman.com said "Blaha cited eight record highs at Camp Mabry and two at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport already this month. Average temperatures for the month are almost 10 degrees higher at Camp Mabry and six degrees higher at the airport than the average temperatures recorded from 1971 to 2000 for June." Blaha is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in New Braunfels, in case you were wondering. We live somewhere between Camp Mabry and the airport, so we probably have had between two and eight record highs this month, right?
Summer heat, of course, calls for summer naps, which Emily and Joseph are enjoying right now. I think we have trained Emily to think it is normal to flop down on the floor every once in a while and rest for a minute because she has taken up that habit. That's what's happening in this picture below, anyway.
This next picture is what's happening right now as I type. Emily is enjoying a much-needed nap with her faithful jingle-bear. This jingle-bear is her quasi-comfort item. She's not really dependent on it, but when we hand it to her, she knows it's time to sleep. Or play in her crib until she falls asleep.

Joseph is also napping, but I don't know how happy he'd be with me sneaking in and taking a picture of him unawares and posting it on the internet for all the world to see.
In other news (that I noticed while looking up this weather information), the pool that I was planning to go to on Monday with some other moms may not be a super fun place to go for a couple of days because of this. I'm sure the pool is exactly the same as it was before , but the thought of swimming there so soon afterward makes me a little uncomfortable. I dunno, maybe I'm being overly sensitive? I guess we'll see if the little playgroup's still on on Monday.
It's probably time for me to join the napping party now. Good night!
