Socrates is feeling sick

Today Joseph asked me to check on Socrates because he wasn't feeling well. Then Joseph left.
I checked on the monkey as a dutiful wife would, and found a clue which started me on an elaborate treasure hunt with ten clues, all rhyming, that led all over the apartment.
Those white eggs are real. Joseph had somehow managed to empty them while keeping them whole, and then stuck rolled up clues inside. The last clue said this:

When you're not sick, you don't need drugs,
For those ailed by imagined bugs,
It's good enough to take placebo.
Hurry now to the gazebo.
Bring the flowers, drink, and cake.
(I'll worry if too long you take).

Roses and violets are nice for poem,
But whatever the color, it's great when you're home.
You bring joy to the house, you make loneliness stop
Even when you're so tired you're ready to drop.
. . .
I love you so much. Have a great mother's day
Now come on let's eat. Come be happy and play!

So I took the cake, flower, and drink and headed down to the nearby gazebo. Joseph had a table set up and was barbequeing us some chicken and corn. It was so yummy! Probably the best chicken I've ever had.

He also had music playing from a CD he'd burned earlier today and he'd made a boutonniere and corsage for us to wear. He had it planned out so well! It was such a fun meal. And a beautiful looking day. I say "looking" because the pictures look great but it was really over 90 degrees and super humid. But it was still really fun. And Emily loved playing in the grass. I poured water on her head because I thought she looked hot and she got mad and then I had to take off her shirt because it was soaked. Don't worry though. She was wearing sunscreen.

Joseph later confessed that he'd stayed up until 6 am getting this all ready for me (you can see him sleeping in the picture of Socrates) and it had taken him months of preparation. What a guy! and what a fabulous Mothers' Day surprise!

PS: Emily almost ruined the surprise by finding one of the eggs hidden in a hat on the hat rack. She gave it to me and Joseph said, "Um, just leave that there."

Your husband is such a romantic. And a good example to others. How did he learn to be so thoughtful?
