Park Day

Weekends are a celebrated event in our home. And it's even better when it's a three-day weekend for Joseph and the kids. And it's even MORE better when we have a week-long "winter recess" for the kids following the weekend. And the deal is sweetened further when our winter recess features 70-degree days throughout the week. Basically, we are feeling pretty cheerful around here right now.

This morning we made a family excursion (that's the word the schools in Australia used instead of 'field-trip'!) to Central Park in Santa Clara. It's one of the kids' favorite parks in the area, but totally not to-code as far as playground safety goes. That's probably why they like it. :) Anyway, we took a few pictures of those crazy kiddos today, and thought we'd put them up for the grandmas.

This was in the front yard right before we left. Aren't they so cute playing with our super-random duck toy and El's unicorn castle? (Crazy that I didn't tweak the colors in this photo at all!)
Caleb making his way across the huge concrete blocks.
Emi here modeling her newest dress (made in an effort to decrease my fabric stash).
And our Jacob.

And here's our crazy Elinor story for the day:

The other day Caleb was muttering under his breath so I asked him what he was saying. He told me it was kind of a bad word and he didn't want to say it out loud.
Elinor immediately guessed, "hate-booger-butt?"

It made me laugh out loud. That's like all of our off-limits words at once! The girl thinks so quickly on her feet!

Well, the big kids and Joseph are making Valentine's cookies right now, so I'm off to join them.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm very jealous. It's snowing right now with 20 mph winds. On the other hand, your dress for Emily is lovely. Good job!
