This is about a week and a half's worth of milk jugs. They're all two-percent jugs. For some reason, they recently shifted away from the traditional blue lidded standard (Sam's club still adheres to the classic style). We ended up with some skim milk when we didn't notice and careless still bought the blue lidded jug. I'm afraid that most of this trash is my responsibility (Emily helped a little). Amanda usually prefers water, but I grew up in a milk loving family and drink a little less than a gallon per day. Consequently, the price of milk is more important to us than the price of gas.

Maybe you could get your milk in 5 gallon buckets. Like paint, 1 gallon for small jobs and 5 gallons for the whole house. Or maybe you could just get a cow. It seems like there is plenty of grazing area around your apartment. If you put it behind that big bush by the parking lot, no one would even know it was there.
I tried that once... It didn't work. People notice, even if you paint the cow green.
Whoa, that's a lot of milk consumption. Our house looks similar, but instead of empty milk cans, there are Diet Coke cans. My husband insists that it's just as good as drinking water. I love milk, especially with a hot cinnamon roll or warm chocolate chip cookie with pecans.
I've tried the ten-gallon kind. They are eco-friendly because they are re-usable. Builds muscles when you try to pour out of them, I promise you. I suspect you have a picture of my sister and I standing next to a pair of 10-gallon cans.
The cow idea has a few problems besides complaining neighbors. I'll tell you sometime when you have a few hours.
We've given some consideration to eventually getting our own miniature cow. Apparently they come as small as a large doberman but these only produce "enough milk for breakfast, lunch and at least one coffee break". That probably wouldn't be enough. Still, if it were paper trained, I bet the kids would like it.
you're in good company. i think that jeff and i are going to have the same problem. we might try to ration it out. does that work?
