Chicken Soup for the Princess Soul

Well, the kids are currently "napping," so I will take this opportunity to tell you a story.

The weather has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse (20 degrees today, down from 70 degrees two days ago) so Emily has taken it upon herself to make sure we stay healthy.

Hey, princess, what are you cooking?
You look so graceful and demure stirring that for us.

Oh, look; you accidentally mixed one of Caleb's chickens into that soup.
Princess: Oh, yeah. I killed that chicken.
Me (momentarily shocked out of character): WHAT?!!
Me (regaining my composure): I mean, you killed that chicken?
Princess: Yes. I killed it so I could cook it and eat it.
Me: Ohhhh. Is that chicken soup for us?
Princess: Nope. It's chicken popcorn.

I'm glad she understands that even princesses need to get their hands dirty sometimes.
Butchering is evidently not below their station in life. :)

It's been a long time since we went to Sonic for popcorn chicken. I miss that stuff, but perhaps my arteries are better off without it. I guess the little plastic chicken looks a lot more popcorn than the breaded stuff.

She's much braver than I am. Even handling a raw whole chicken kind of gives me the jibblies.

Thats awesome! I love Emily! I can't wait till our snow melts (ok its gone) and we can all abandon our children at the park while we talk. (And Emily feeds us chocolate rocks...I mean cereal)
