Beach Baby, Beach Baby, There on the Sand

Well, we finally took a quick family vacation this summer and it was so much fun! We are thinking about doing it every year. A friend had recommended a place to stay by the beach at Corpus Christi, so we decided to go stay there for a couple of days. We drove out on Tuesday (it took about four hours), arrived around 4:30 pm, played on the beach that evening and all day the next day, then checked out on Thursday and went to the aquarium. Then we drove home. So that's our story; here are some pictures and a few more details.
First of all, the hotel was great. It was right on the beach. Really. Right on it. Here's a picture from our balcony:
This was so convenient for getting the two little ones down there quickly and back to the hotel with no fuss. They absolutely loved the beach. They spent a lot of time playing in the sand, but were not afraid to play in the waves.
Here Caleb's working on a special concoction to feed us.

The kids always love playing with Joseph. He is by far the more fun and playful parent. I just do the stuff that keeps them alive.

Here they are, trusting and loving him enough to follow him into the depths of the ocean.

Here I am dragging Emily out with me. This is all you get of me in a swimming suit! :)

This is a bikini lady who for some reason the kids always wanted to play right next to so I couldn't get any good pictures of them. But then she took a picture for us in the water so I didn't mind her as much.

Joseph is an early riser/bad sleeper, so he got up early one morning to see the sunrise. I'm afraid I slept through it, but I thought this picture was pretty. Again, from our balcony.

And then he came inside to this. Quite the contrast, eh? Caleb is not really a morning person. He needs a good cup of milk to get going. Good thing he's Mormon because I'm sure he would be addicted to coffee otherwise.

Here's our busy daddy hard at work again. He doesn't like me to carry the kids because I've been having so many Braxton Hicks, so he does double the work. Good thing he's a cheerful, happy-go-lucky guy and the kids love him.

The kids were sad to go when our time at the beach was up. Emily spent a lot of her free time gazing out at the water longingly.

Caleb is kind of a copycat.

The rest of Emily's spare time was spent reading this bodice ripper romance novel she dug out of a closet. You can kind of see how awesome it is by the picture on the cover.

Caleb spent his time saying "night night!" and lying down on the tile floor to go to sleep. Look at those blue eyes! I still can't get over it.

Packing up the car to go home. It was a fun trip.

We'll save the aquarium for another post because really, this one's too long already. Congratulations if you made it to the end! More to come!

Yay for the beach! We had a fun time there last week too. Where is that hotel? Maybe we can all go together next year?

I made it to the end and enjoyed the whole long post! I especially loved the thing you put about Joseph being the more fun parent who plays with the kids and you're just responsible for the things to keep them alive. So funny. I could say that we have similar styles, both you and me, and our husbands. What a great trip! When we went to Corpus Christi several years back when the kids were younger, the beach was to gross to play in. There were jellyfish everywhere. I wonder if that was because of the time of year we went. It was during Easter weekend, so obviously in the springtime.

We also went to that aquarium and I look forward to your post.

I love your long post. (MORE LONG POSTS) I love your pictures to, I'm glad you had fun. I went to the beach in the spring and I agree there were tons of jellyfish. Must be a seasonal thing.
